Hi!
I'm Wooram Lee, an assistant professor ("wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter") in the Institute for Philosophy at the University of Duisburg-Essen, and a member of the Philosophical Anthropology and Ethics Research Group. Before coming to Germany, I held lecturer positions at Seoul National University (where I cut my teeth on philosophy!) and Underwood International College in South Korea. I received my PhD in philosophy from the University of Southern California, under the supervision of Stephen Finlay (chair), Mark Schroeder, and Ralph Wedgwood. I was born and grew up in South Korea. I work at the intersection of (meta-)ethics and epistemology, focusing particularly on the nature of reasons, rationality, and reasoning in epistemic and practical domains. I also have serious interest in philosophy of mind, especially in the nature of belief and intention. Most of my research to date has concerned the nature of (local) structural requirements of rationality on belief and intention. I argue against the idea that they are normative (or prescriptive) requirements: they should rather be seen as descriptive principles about how belief and intention operate.
